Kyoko Kasuya (1980) est une artiste visuelle et réalisatrice japonaise basée à Paris, France. Elle a obtenu un D.N.S.E.P. à l'École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier (Mo.co.), France. Après les événements du séisme et du tsunami de 2011 et l'accident qui en a résulté à la centrale nucléaire de Fukushima au Japon, son père a conseillé à Kasuya de rester en France. En faisant face à ces événements entre la France et son pays natal, elle a commencé à observer la société contemporaine attentivement, tout en examinant sa propre identité.
Les œuvres de Kasuya évoquent la temporalité des expériences partagées, se concentrant actuellement sur les souvenirs de la Seconde Guerre mondiale explorés à partir de journaux intimes, d'archives cachées, des écrits de personnes inconnues et ordinaires. Ses études initiales en littérature afro-américaine influencent ces projets, en particulier dans l'importance des archives écrites qui aident à encadrer les récits du passé. Kasuya interroge ici des sujets sociologiques et historiques à travers des points de vue existants, remis en question et déplacés par des œuvres cinématographiques et photographiques, tentant ainsi de contribuer à une compréhension universelle des expériences humaines au-delà des nationalités et des origines.

Kyoko Kasuya (B.1980) is a Japanese visual artist and filmmaker based in Paris, France. She studied Fine Arts at l’École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts Montpellier (Mo.co.) in Montpellier, France. Following the events of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami and resulting accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, Kasuya was advised to remain within France by her father. By facing these events between France and her native country, she started observing contemporary society in detail, while examining her own Japanese identity.
Kasuya’s works recall the temporality of shared experiences, currently focusing on the memories of World War II explored and investigated from diaries, writings and hidden archives of unknown and ordinary people. Her initial studies in Afro-American literature influence these projects, in particular through the importance of written archives that aid in framing the narratives of the past. Here Kasuya questions sociological and historical subjects through existing views which are being challenged and shifted through works of film and photography, thus attempting to contribute a universal understanding of the human experience beyond nationalities and background.

糟谷恭子（1980年生）は、フランス・パリを拠点に活動する日本人ビジュアルアーティスト、映像作家である。フランスのモンペリエ高等美術学校で造形美術修士課程を取得する。2011年の東日本大震災と福島第一原子力発電所の事故を受け、父親からフランスに留まるよう勧められる。フランスと母国を行き来する中で、現代社会をつぶさに観察し、自身の日本人としてのアイデンティティを見つめ直した。
現在は、第二次世界大戦の記憶を中心に、無名の一般人の日記や文章、隠されたアーカイブなどを調査し、共有された経験の大切さを問う作品を制作している。過去の物語を構成するのに役立つ文書アーカイブの重要性を、最初の学士課程で専攻したアメリカ黒人文学研究を通して学び、多くのプロジェクトに影響を与えている。糟谷は、社会学的、歴史学的な主題を、映画や写真作品を通して、既存の見解に疑問を投げかけ、物事の見方を変えることで、我々がこれまで経験してきた事柄に対し、国籍やバックグラウンドを超え、できるだけ普遍的な見解を提示し、より多くの人々と共有しようと試みている。
